Squires
Bass/Vocals
Scott Squires started out as a lead singer during his high school years,
fronting numerous bands and recording songs in a studio as early as 16 years
old. He then landed a position as a bassist in a band from Tulsa called Erotic
Nothingface, functioning not only as the bassist, but also the main lyric
writer. Shortly afterwards Squires gained more studio experience, recording 20
songs with the band and also began touring, opening for acts such as the Bullet
Boys.
In 1996, he joined a band called Sybil's Machine and recorded two albums, one of
which was an unprecedented double disc album containing 32 songs entitled
"2000 A.D" which was likely the first and possibly only two disc CD
released by a Tulsa-based band.
Squires' time with Sybil's Machine earned him alot of exposure with the media
and also grew his touring experience, gaining opportunities to participate in
Edge Festivals, KATT radio festivals, and snagging more opening slots for major
national acts such as Dokken, Warrant, Ratt, Days of the New, Fuel, God Lives
Underwater, Rob Halford's "Two", Sammy Hagar, Caroline Spine, The
Nixons, Stabbing Westward, The Flys, Train, and others.
Following the break up of Sybil's Machine, Squires joined forces with Down For
Five in 2005. One of his main strengths and passions is being a major part of
the band's live show, bringing a very energetic stage presence to the forefront.
In addition to his bass playing, Squires also contributes back up vocals on many
of the band's songs.
Squires has the "in your face" rock and roll attitude that cannot be
ignored and he proudly displays that attitude. "My biggest influences are
KISS, Motley Crue, Velvet Revolver, Stone Temple Pilots, HIM, Jane's Addiction,
and others. I love the big arena bands. Those always looked like so much fun to
be a part of."
"There's nothing like playing live in front of people who get rock and
roll," said Squires. "It's very fulfilling, and seeing people really
get into what I'm doing is a high all on its own. I feel Down For Five has more
to offer than most rock music has to offer these days. It's time people take
notice, or they will miss out on something real special."
